Lunch at Miku in Vancouver, BC
The Salmon Oshi Sushi from Miku.
Miku is an iconic sushi restaurant in Vancouver, BC. They're famous for their Aburi style of sushi. Aburi means flame seared and Miku was the first place to do this method of cooking in Canada. With sweeping views of the water and Canada Place, handcrafted cocktails, high quality sushi, and the refined service, this spot was high on my Vancouver food list.
Reservations are recommended here. I was pleasantly surprised when the host seated us by a window with an awesome view. I started with an Espresso Martini. This is my favorite cocktail, but I only order them at lunch or brunch, since espresso at dinnertime is a bad idea for me. The Espresso Martini at Miku was excellent. My husband ordered a Paper Krane. This pretty drink had the cutest little paper crane on the rim. The cocktail had Whiskey, Amaro Montenegro, Aperol, and Yuzu.
One of our sons like sushi and the other doesn't care for it, so he ordered the Chicken Katsu. Miku's version of the classic chicken dish was prepared a little differently. It was a ginger-soy marinated chicken breast topped with a moromi-miso mayo sauce. The chicken was tender, and I enjoyed the crispy coating. The sauce added a nice, creamy element to the perfectly cooked chicken. The salad that accompanied the chicken was really fresh and topped with shaved parmesan, peppers, and a few pieces of really delicious and crispy potatoes.
My husband and our other son each ordered the Miku Roll. This roll has salmon, crab, cucumber, and their special Miku sauce. I ordered three pieces of the Salmon Oshi Sushi, and it consisted of pressed BC wild sockeye salmon, jalapeno, and the Miku sauce. It tasted incredibly fresh, and very spicy from the jalapenos.
We enjoyed everything about Miku and I'm glad we finally checked it out! There are so many Sushi options in Vancouver, but the gorgeous water views and warm service make this place a standout.
