Dinner at Nightingale in Vancouver, BC
This is the Pepperoni Pizza from the kid's menu- looks amazing, right? It absolutely was!
A couple of blocks from our hotel where we stayed in Vancouver is Nightingale. We had a reservation on our first night to this upscale spot which was named best farm to table restaurant in Canada. They source all of their ingredients locally, and they have a wood stone pizza oven where they cook some incredible Neapolitan style pizzas.
The restaurant was very upscale, with so many neat touches everywhere I looked. The name Nightingale is named after a hungry hawk and the neat bird decor around the dining room was so pretty. The high ceilings, low light, and the bird cages displayed over the bar gave this spot such an elegant and worldly feel. I was already impressed and patting myself on the back for making a reservation here, and I hadn't even tried the food and cocktails yet.
Our family came here for two things- the fried chicken and the pizza. At Nightingale, they do both of these very well, and in an elevated way. The chicken is a Buttermilk Fried Chicken, with an amazing spiced maple syrup, along with some crunchy sour pickles. We shared one order, and the few bites I had were some of the best fried chicken I've had.
For the pizzas, we went a little rogue. My son loves a good Margherita pizza, and they didn't have one on the kid's menu. So, we ordered him one off the regular menu. My other son ordered a cheese pizza from the kid's menu, and then my husband and I shared a pepperoni pizza off the kid's menu. This way, we still got two pieces, and this was more than enough food for us. We had the fried chicken and happy hour apps from our hotel, so we were full after enjoying the pizza. The pizza had that crackly, crispy crust, lots of cheese, and spicy, crispy pepperonis that I can never get enough of.
For our cocktails, I enjoyed a unique twist on an Old Fashioned. Theirs was a Canadian Fashioned with Canadian Club 20-year Whiskey, and an orange and chocolate disk on top. This drink was really fun and the chocolate tasted so good with the drink! My husband enjoyed a Mai Tai which had Appleton Reserve Rum.
We had an amazing dinner at Nightingale, and I'd definitely recommend dining here if you're in downtown Vancouver!
