Dinner at Cactus Club Cafe in Vancouver, BC

We dined at Cactus Club on the second night of our trip, at the Coal Harbour location.

Cactus Club Cafe is a chain located across Canada. They serve global cuisine, using fresh ingredients. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, in a contemporary setting. We ate there once before at one of their downtown Vancouver locations. We remembered how tasty the food and cocktails there, so we decided to have dinner at the Coal Harbour location by our hotel.

They do have a strong happy hour which is daily from 2 pm until 5 and again from 9-close. We missed the happy hour, but we find the drink prices to be pretty reasonable. The current exchange rate for us in the U.S is good, so that's a positive when visiting Canada and dining out. I tried a Frozen Sangria and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it. This frozen drink was so fruity and had red wine, brandy, orange, raspberry, rhubarb, lime, and was topped with a bellini slush. My husband's drink was an Old Fashioned. We also tried a Penicillin drink which had Johnnie Walker Black, honey, ginger, lemon, and whiskey. He liked this one, but I didn't enjoy it because it tasted like medicine.

We started with some Warm Pull Apart Brioche. This bread had four pieces and is baked in-house and served with a honey truffle chive butter. The bread was soft, and the butter was so full of flavor and easily spreadable. I ordered the Hot Chicken and Pickles. The pickles were the sweet kind, which I didn't like with the chicken. The chicken was just ok to me, and pretty standard to what I find at most sit-down chains. My husband had the Avocado Kale Salad with Chicken. It looked plain to me, but he loved the freshness of it. Our sons split an order of the Chicken Strips and Fries.

At Cactus Club, the drinks and the vibes stand out. They get packed here, but the dining room is huge with lots of tables. They have a lot of locations all over Canada, and it's a must-try spot at least once!

Cheers to the tasty drink menu at Cactus Club!

The restrooms are downstairs and have this cool Jack Poole display with items from the Olympics. Jack Poole was the man responsible for bringing The Winter Olympics to Vancouver in 2010.

Even the restrooms look cool at Cactus Club!
