A Visit to Motoretta Gelato in Vancouver, BC
A scoop of the Almost Tiramisu from Motoretta Gelato.
Ice Cream is always a good idea, especially on a sunny day while traveling. Vancouver's chock full of really good places to find gelato. The difference between gelato and ice cream is that gelato contains more milk and less cream, so the fat content is lower. This results in a denser and silkier texture. One place in the city for gelato is Motoretta Gelato. This spot was a couple of blocks from our hotel, so we stopped in to try a cone.
At Motoretta Gelato they highlight the best of the area's seasonal ingredients and pair them with Italian techniques. You can sample any two flavors. My son ordered chocolate in a cone, and I selected the Almost Tiramisu. I forgot to ask what makes this flavor just almost Tiramisu, but it tasted like the real thing to me. I love a bowl of rich and decadent Tiramisu after a hearty Italian meal, and I tasted all of the elements of this classic dessert in this gelato.
We ate our cones while walking the two blocks back to our hotel, resulting in some jealous looks from passerby's. Get yourself a cone, life's too short not to, I wanted to say.
