A Visit to Mitten Sweets and Coffee

A slice of Ube Tart and a Cube Donut from Mitten Sweets and Coffee.

I wanted a bakery moment to enjoy a decadent pastry (or two), so I headed to Mitten Sweets and Coffee. Located in Seattle's Central District, this bakery sells French and Japanese desserts and pastries. Your jaw will drop when you enter this cute shop, since their display is filled with dreamy looking things. Yes, it's hard to decide, but whatever you pick will taste incredible and top of the line in terms of quality.

I chose a piece of the Ube Tart. The luscious purple color was enticing. I also selected an adorable Cube Donut with a sesame and red bean filling. We took a seat at a long counter to take a bunch of photos and try the desserts. Not only was the tart so pretty, but was full of Ube flavor, along with notes of almond and cinnamon. The tart crust was well made, buttery, and delectable. The Cube Donut was dusted with sugar and sesame seeds and had the texture of both a muffin and a donut. It was moist and baked to perfection. The sesame/red bean filling was a delight.

Mitten Sweets and Coffee was a slice of heaven. I'd highly recommend stopping in for some pastries, as the quality is higher than most spots around Seattle. We do have a ton of incredible bakeries, but you have to know where to go. This spot felt like something I'd find in Portland, Vancouver, BC, or San Francisco.
