Two Dessert Spots to check out in Vancouver, WA | The Yard Milkshake Bar and Voodoo Doughnut

The Ultimate Oreo Sundae from The Yard Milkshake Bar in Vancouver, WA.

Here are two noteworthy spots for a yummy treat if you're in Vancouver, WA! Both are national chains but are definitely worth stopping in and getting something sweet.

First up is The Yard Milkshake Bar, located along the Vancouver Waterfront. This is the only location in WA, but there's 31 locations in the U.S. They first opened The Yard in 2017 after being on the TV show The Shark Tank. They're known for their crazy shakes and sundaes. They're topped with edible cookie dough, cookies, cake, and more, all served on top of the shakes and sundaes. The shakes and sundaes are served in souvenir pint glasses, which you can clean and take home with you.

We tried the Extreme Oreo Sundae and all shared it. At almost 900 calories, you kind of have to share it! This sundae was topped high with sugary and delicious things. This dessert had edible Oreo cookie dough, mini-Oreos, an Oreo Cakester, Oreo ice cream, and more!

There was frosting on the rim, which seemed over the top, but tasted so good with the Oreo cake and ice cream. They have so many different kinds of shakes and sundaes to choose from. This spot was on my list for a while, so I was happy to try it! And I'm glad we ended up really enjoying it, too! Some of these Instagram desserts look go online, but don't taste good. Luckily, this wasn't the case at The Yard.

We weren't planning on stopping in at Voodoo Doughnut, but when we spotted a location right by the mall we were at, we had to go in and get a doughnut! They're known for their unique flavors and first opened in Portland, OR in 2003. A location recently opened in Seattle, but the line has been down the block to get inside. I first went to Voodoo in 2012 to the original location in Portland and we waited for an hour to get in. This location in Vancouver, WA had no line at all!

We each got one doughnut. I tried the Maple Cream. It was a round maple doughnut with Bavarian cream inside. Their doughnuts are on the bigger side, so I ate mine in two sittings. My sons tried a Homer one and a Dirt doughnut. The Homer one looked like the famous doughnut from The Simpsons and the Dirt one was covered in crushed Oreos. They also tried a Bubblegum doughnut that was pink and topped with a piece of Bubblegum.

If you're in this area of Vancouver, definitely stop in and grab a doughnut at this quiet location. These doughnuts are fun to try and there's so many interesting flavors to choose from!
