Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

My Favorite Travel Photos from 2024

In 2024 I took lots of overnights and also visited by family for a week in Montana. I also did a couple of day trips to nearby Vashon Island and Bainbridge Island. I did a two-night camp with my sons' 5th Grade class in Gig Harbor, WA. In 2025 we'll be casting our nets a little wider with some further away places.

During our day trip to Vashon Island, we checked out Oscar the Bird King, one of the whimsical trolls from the NW Trolls: Way of the Bird King exhibit.

During our day trip to Bainbridge Island, we checked out another troll. This one is Pia the Peacemaker. This was the 5th Troll we saw from the exhibit. The 6th Troll is located in Portland, OR, and we haven't seen that one yet.

The view of the Seattle skyline from the ferry is always fun, with lots to look at.

This view from North Vancouver, in the Shipyards area, is a good one. Especially at sunset with a drink in hand from one of the waterfront restaurants. I took this during our overnight to Vancouver, BC in February.

This day in Gastown, in Vancouver, BC, was a rainy one. Even with the weather, Gastown still looks so photogenic.

In April we did an overnight in Leavenworth, WA. We love this German-inspired mountain town. So much good food and interesting buildings to photograph.

In late August we drove to MT to see my family. One evening it was raining really hard, and we were happily surprised to see this gorgeous rainbow.

Fish Creek at Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park, MT, is one of our favorite spots to a have picnic and wade in the water.

During my boys' 5th Grade camp in Gig Harbor, WA they did many outdoor activities. Some of the kids even went canoeing. While one of my sons didn't try it, my other son did and loved it.

In October we took another overnight to Vancouver, BC. It rained hard the whole time, but we stayed at a neat hotel, The Burrard. It had this neat courtyard, filled with palm trees. I thought this view was really cool from our room.

In late October, the fall colors were out in full force. We visited Kabota Gardens, and I had fun taking photos all over this Renton, WA park.

More pretty fall colors in South Lake Union, Seattle.

This fall they finished the Overlake Walk on the Seattle Waterfront. This area connects the waterfront to Pike Place Market, affording us some new and shiny views of the city.

Our family took a post-Christmas overnight trip to Vancouver, WA. We'd never checked out Vancouver before, just driven through. We stayed at The Heathman Lodge and this rustic retreat was a perfect Winter getaway. We loved how festive the lobby looked for the holidays. I'll be posting more from our trip soon.

Thanks for checking out my favorite travel photos from this year!
