Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Christmas Eve Lunch at Koko's Restaurant and Tequila Bar

They go hard with their holiday decor at Koko's, and we're here for it! Their restaurant looked stunning, decked out for Christmas.

One of our family's Christmas traditions is to go out for Christmas Eve lunch. This year we chose Koko's Restaurant and Tequila Bar. They're a Latin restaurant, located on Capitol Hill, and they also have a location in Pacific Beach, WA.

I was happily surprised to see the gorgeous holiday decor upon walking in. They also had Christmas music playing which was perfect since it was Christmas Eve. They had a small holiday menu with a couple of special cocktails. I chose a Gingerbread Espresso Martini, and it was as delicious as it sounds. There was even a Gingerbread Man and whipped cream on top. This drink was strong and very easy to drink. My husband ordered a Frida which had rum and coconut.

My entree was the Carne Asada Quesadilla. It was packed with juicy and tender meat, lots of mozzarella, roasted corn, bell peppers, and caramelized onions. It was packed with flavor and reminded me of Supreme pizza, in the best way. My husband had Enchiladas, and our sons had a Cheese Quesadilla. We also all started off with some chips, salsa, and guac as an appetizer. The chips were served warm and the guac was fresh and flavorful.

For dessert we shared an order of the Churros. The presentation was fun since they arrived in a wooden truck! They're served warm with a chocolate sauce for dipping. Our sons loved them, since they're big Churro fans.

The servers and the hostess were so nice and hospitable. The hostess even offered to take a family photo of us by the giant Christmas tree. This spot gets busy on the weekends and sometimes even have a DJ. Reservations are recommended!
