A Stay at The Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, WA
My family recently took a post-Christmas overnight trip to Vancouver, WA. This was our first time visiting Vancouver, this southern WA city located next to Portland, OR. We stayed at The Heathman Lodge. The lobby was decked out in holiday decor and looked magical and rustic at the same time. We received a bottle of red wine upon check in, an Expedia reward I had. Unfortunately, I had to go back to the lobby and grab a corkscrew, but it was worth it. Our room was spacious for a standard room, and we enjoyed the lodge feel and special touches.
Hudson's Bar and Grill is located in the lodge, and we dined there for dinner and breakfast the next morning. This upscale restaurant had the same theme of the hotel with lots of rustic touches. The food is featured as NW farm to table. My husband enjoyed an Old Fashioned and it arrived topped with bacon and even smoke, once the server took off the lid on top of the glass.
We shared some Seared Ahi Tuna as a starter. This came topped with a Ponzu Sauce, Fried Rice Noodles, and Wasabi Peas. The Tuna tasted fresh and seasoned well. The Wasabi Peas were spicy! Then we also shared the Fiocchi Pasta. This creamy pasta had a cheese and pear filling, with a brown butter Bleu Cheese Sauce. It also came topped with caramelized pears, cranberries, and hazelnuts. Since we shared it, the serving was small. We enjoyed the rich flavors of this dish.
Finally, we shared the Beef Tip Sauté. This was our least favorite dish of the three. The beef was underwhelming as it was under seasoned and a little over cooked. The beef tips came with greens, mushrooms, and Gorgonzola. Our sons shared an order of the Chicken Strips and Fries.
