Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Alki Pho and Bar

My family and I went out one more time to celebrate my upcoming birthday. We went to Alki Beach to hang out and check out the new arcade. Then we ate dinner at Alki Pho and Bar. We've been impressed with the quality of restaurants now at Alki Beach. This Vietnamese spot features Pho Noodle Soup and a full bar with specialty cocktails. I hadn't heard anything about this place, but their website menu looked great, along with their long list of featured drinks. I'm glad we gave it a try!

I started with a Lychee Martini. This one had Vodka, lychee syrup, cranberry juice, lemon, and the pretty cocktail was topped with two lychees! I ended up loving this drink. A Lychee Martini is one of my fav drinks. My husband got a beachy looking drink- perfect for Alki Beach. His was a Peach Breeze and this drink had coconut rum, peach schnapps, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice. He also tried a Spicy Margarita which he thought was the best one he's tried. These tend to be overly spicy!

To eat, my husband and son had a bowl of Pho. They both really liked theirs and it was pretty standard to others they've had. I had the Grilled Pork Vermicelli bowl. I forgot how good these noodle bowls are. The serving was big, enough for two servings. Our other son had the Fish Sauce Chicken Wings and really enjoyed them. I tried a wing, and it was delicious.

This is a great location for a Pho and full bar spot. Alki Beach needed a restaurant like this one! After eating, the sun was setting. So, I was able to get some nice photos of the sunset.
