Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

  Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. Cocoa Beetles from the Coraline Movie at Fran's Chocolates

 One of my son's favorite movies is Coraline. So when my husband saw the Coraline collection featured at Fran's Chocolates in Seattle, we knew we had to treat him to an early birthday present! There's a scene in the movie when Coraline's mother presents her with a box of Cocoa Beetles. At Fran's Chocolates they made the cutest boxes with 16 dark chocolate ones filled with a Pistachio cream as part of the special collection to celebrate 15 years since the movie was released! Coraline is an animated stop-action movie from the Laika Studios in Oregon. 


We bought a box of the Cocoa Beetles for our son. He shared with us, of course!

The Fran's location in Georgetown is beautiful and it's such a nice touch that they give you a free chocolate when you walk in. This was a dark chocolate truffle with a chocolate ganache. It was really rich!

They also have Salted Caramels and chocolate bars as part of the collection.

Our son loved his special early BD surprise, and we all had fun trying the Cocoa Beetles. They look just like the ones in the movie!
