Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. Dinner at Freestone in Kalispell, MT

Our meal from Freestone, located in the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell!

For an upscale dining experience in Kalispell, we ate dinner at Freestone. Located inside the Hilton Garden Inn, the restaurant was recently renovated. They have carefully curated cocktails and award-winning dishes representing the best of Montana.

The interior was rustic, yet elegant. After hanging out with my relatives at a Kalispell park, my family and I arrived before the dinner rush. We had the whole dining room to ourselves for half of the meal. We had Old Fashioneds to drink. These classic cocktails were perfectly made.

They have a kid's menu, and my son ordered the Sliders with Fries. The rest of us shared several dishes-the Lobster Mac and Cheese, the Fried Chicken Bao Buns, and the Steak Bites which arrived with Fries. Of the three dishes, my favorite were the Bao Buns. They were packed with flavor from the pickled cucumber and cilantro. The chicken had a nice and crispy coating, contrasting well with the soft Bao Bun. The Steak Bites had a good flavor overall but were a little chewy. The Mac and Cheese was nice, but nothing exceptional, and I avoided the lobster since I don't eat shellfish. The other family members enjoyed the lobster, however.

I'm glad I found this place in Kalispell, and I enjoyed the fine dining aspect. Between the high-quality cocktails, really great service, unique dishes like the Bao Buns, and the beautiful interior, it was a solid choice for dinner out on our trip.
