Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Checking out the Columbia Falls Community Market | August 2024

On our last night in MT, we went to the Columbia Falls Community Market. This is an event held every Thursday evening from May through September. The last time I attended was three years ago and it seemed smaller and was held in a different part of town.

We were full from our dinner at Monaco Steakhouse, but this would have been a good spot to grab dinner. There were tons of local food trucks, serving all kinds of cuisines. We did want a little something sweet, so my son and I shared a chocolate cupcake from the CCupcupcakery.com truck. Our Chocoholic cupcake was only $3, although it was on the smaller side. The cupcake was moist and the icing was not overly sweet.

My other son and I were thirsty, so we each got a huge fresh squeezed lemonade from a lemonade truck. We didn't know how giant the drinks would be, but somehow, we managed to finish them. I got a Huckleberry Lemonade, and my son got a Cotton Candy Lemonade. We were happily surprised by how colorful and unique his was! It had a big piece of cotton candy on top and the lemonade was really sweet. There was also a Boba Truck that I'll try and get next year when I go back.

There was live music and lots of arts and crafts vendors. It was fun walking around checking everything out. I wish they would've had an event like this when I was a kid, but times change, things evolve, and you can always return home and take in the new.

Thanks for checking out my MT and Spokane posts! This is my last one from our recent trip. I managed to get all eight posts done in a few days because tomorrow I'm headed to the WA State Fair, and I'll have more photos and posts to share on that!
