Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Visit to Paris Baguette in Tukwila

A Coffee Croissant Donut and a Lemon Croissant Donut from Paris Baguette!

When I heard Paris Baguette recently opened in Tukwila, WA I knew I needed to visit. They're a French-inspired bakery cafe with South Korean roots. The first location opened in 2005 and they now have locations all over the U.S and internationally. There's also a Paris Baguette in Lynnwood, WA, which also recently opened.

There are so many pastry options, it was hard to choose. Our family ended up with two boxes of pastries! They have everything at Paris Baguette, even Croissant Donuts which I love. Who doesn't enjoy a croissant/donut? They currently have two flavors- one filled with custard cream and topped with an lemon icing and a Coffee one with coffee custard cream and coffee icing. I tried both of the Croissant Donuts and couldn't decide which one I liked more. I've had fresher types of Croissant Donuts, but these were still delicious.

They had a lot of croissants to choose from, even mini ones filled with custard cream and strawberries. I chose one of those and I loved how mini and fun to eat it was. There's also Mochi Donuts in three flavors- Sugar, Lemon Iced and a red colored one which might be strawberry? On their website, it says they sell Supreme Croissants, but we didn't see any. I imagine they were sold out for the day. I would probably return to try one, along with a refreshing drink. There's also a wide assortment or cakes and slices, which would be nice for a party or celebration.

I liked how bright and spacious the bakery is. There's lots of seating, and room to stroll around and check out the pastries and cakes before you decide what to buy. You can grab a tray and then get the pastries yourself, then go to the counter and pay. If you're a lover of pastries and you like to have a large selection to choose from, Paris Baguette is definitely the place for you!
