Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

June Eats and Drinks

Somehow the end of June is here and it's time to highlight some of the food and drinks I tried this month. These photos are the ones I haven't blogged about, so I'm compiling them together like I did last month. You can see my May post here

In downtown Seattle you'll find Xing Fu Tang, a Taiwanese boba tea spot, which I'd visited once before. They now have soft serve, a brown sugar boba flavor. It tasted just like tea and was so refreshing. It comes with brown sugar tapioca, but I wanted mine with just ice cream.

We went out for happy hour at Joey at Westfield Southcenter. They have inexpensive cocktails and the friendly hosts always greet you with a glass of sparkling wine when you arrive. This Sangria was only $6! They're food is on the expensive side, so come for the happy hour drinks.

At Cakes of Paradise in Georgetown, it can be hard to choose what dessert to try! They have so many Hawaiian pastries and donuts. This time I picked a Chantilly Chocolate filled donut. The donut was haeavy and dense and full of chocolate pudding. The whipped Chantilly on top was a nice touch, too.

Right next door to Cakes of Paradise is Kauai Family Restaurant. Don't miss the Kalua Pork and macaroni salad. The portion was huge and was enough for two meals!

National Doughnut Day is always fun to celebrate, especially since Krispy Kreme always gives away one free doughnut per customer. What a yummy food holiday!

My husband and I checked out one of Georgetown's most iconic bars, 9LB Hammer. This bar is dark and divey and even has pool. We played a little bit while we waited for our food. I enjoyed a BLT with a side salad that was solid!

At Uwajimaya in the I.D I bought some guava cheesecake from Hood Famous. They're a cafe, also in the I.D, and they sell coffee, pastries, and cocktails. This vanilla cheesecake topped with guava was delicious!

That wraps up my June Eats and Drinks post!
