Two Spots for Dining in Leavenworth, WA
The Mushroom Ravioli from Larch in Leavenworth.
During our stay in Leavenworth, we dined out for two meals-dinner and lunch. We did go out for drinks and desserts/snacks which I'll cover in the other posts. Click on the link to see my Two spots to grab a drink in Leavenworth, WA one.
For dinner we dined at Larch. This rustic Italian restaurant features seasonal Northwest pasta. We were seated at a cozy booth for four. The dining room was a little dark, creating a relaxing ambiance. I started with a Sidecar and my husband ordered a Manhattan to drink. We also started with some fresh Focaccia Bread, which arrived with a side of spiced tomato oil. It wasn't the best Focaccia I've had and felt a little underwhelming. The sauce was on the sweeter side. Our boys enjoyed it, so I was happy.
They also have a kid's menu, so my son ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo. It was a little too rich and creamy for him, so he didn't finish it. I tried it and thought it was delicious. For our starters we ordered Arancini Schiacciati which are spring garlic risotto cakes topped with a fontina cheese and a vodka cream sauce. I thought these were amazing. They were a little different than the traditional Arancini. Instead of the ball-shaped ones, these were flat risotto cakes. I preferred Larch's version and thoroughly enjoyed them.
My husband and I shared the Mushroom Ravioli. The portion was large, so this worked out well. Just like my starter, I really liked this dish. The sauce was rich and satisfying and chock full of sauteed mushrooms. The sauce was a marsala cream, and the ravioli was drizzled in a balsamic reduction, adding even more flavor to this already delicious main dish. By this point in the meal, even though we were sharing everything, I was full.
Larch is located a block or so off Front St, making it a convenient location for exploring the town of Leavenworth. After eating, we walked around Front St. to take in the views and digest a little. If you're in Leavenworth and craving Italian, I recommend this spot!
The next day for lunch, we dined at Yodelin. This local spot serves broth and noodle bowls, along with burgers, sandwiches, and salads. They have a full bar, so my husband ordered a Cosmo. To eat, he selected one of the Artisanal bone broth soups, the Yodelin. This bowl had Coconut Yellow Curry Wild Halibut Bone Broth Udon Noodles, Roasted Red Pepper, Cilantro shittake Mushrooms, Radish, and Organic Kale. He found the broth to be a little sour, but overall enjoyed the dish.
My son and I ordered a Cheeseburger off of the kid's menu. It was a plain burger with Tillamook cheddar cheese, mayo, and it came with potato chips. My other son ordered the Tillamook Cheese Plate from the kid's menu, also. This cheese plate came with green apples, cucumber, cheese, and a slice of local bread. We weren't blown away by this spot, but we did appreciate the lighter options of the bone broth bowls and noodles. If you're a big fan of their bone broths, you can purchase pints and they also ship the broths.
The view of the mountains in the distance when we left Yodelin was so pretty!
