Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Stay at Hampton Inn and Suites in Leavenworth, WA

For our family's overnight to Leavenworth, WA we stayed at Hampton Inn and Suites. Located just a couple of minutes from downtown Leavenworth, this hotel was a great choice for us. There was free parking, complimentary breakfast, and an indoor pool and hot tub. These are always my three non-negotiables when traveling with my family on any kind of road trip.

Our standard room was just what we needed for our overnight. We even had a nice view of the front of the hotel and the mountains. We didn't love the beds, as they were a little too firm for us. We really weren't a fan of the pillows, since they weren't very soft or fluffy. But one night wasn't a big deal.

We used the pool and hot tub, but it was pretty busy and loud with families since it was spring break. The breakfast was decent, and we appreciated the waffle makers, since our kids always love a fresh waffle during a hotel stay. Breakfast was served in the lobby, which was really nice and accommodated the guests well.

I got a good deal for our room since I used Expedia. I would definitely recommend this hotel for one or two nights if you're visiting Leavenworth!

Hampton Inn and Suites has three levels, and there are elevators.

The lobby/ breakfast area.

The lobby by the front desk. There's also a small store, but the prices are high for the snacks. There is a Safeway right by the hotel, if you get snacky. Check-in is at three, which is so nice!

Our room with two queen-sized beds.

A nice bathroom with everything you need.

They was also a microwave and a mini fridge, which is always convenient.

Our room view.

Right after sunset!

And the next morning at sunrise!

Waffles are always a good idea!
