Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Lunch at Din Tai Fung at Westfield Southcenter

An order of the Chicken Xiao Long Bao from Din Tai Fung.

It had been eight years since my last visit to Din Tai Fung. I didn't have a good experience at the Bellevue location and kind of stayed away. I hear people talk about Din Tai Fung all the time though, especially about how incredible the Xiao Long Bao's are. So when my husband and I were walking around Westfield Southcenter looking for somewhere to dine for lunch, we decided to eat at Din Tai Fung.

We were seated right away in the lounge, and right away I noticed how nicer this location is than the one in Bellevue, with cuter things to look at. We each ordered a Pear Lychee Martini, and it was so beautifully presented, it felt like my birthday or something. It came with a fresh lychee and a pretty orchid. The drink was small and tasted way to delicious for its own good.

To eat we shared an order of the Chicken Xiao Long Bao and my husband also ordered some Spicy Noodles. The Long Bao were so tasty, especially with the Chili Sauce and Soy Sause. The Long Bao are served hot and have soup inside, and when you eat one, you can taste all of the elements. They tasted so flavorful and fresh. The Spicy Noodles were spicy, and the noodles were so silky.

For dessert we shared an order of the Chocolate Xiao Long Bao, which were filled with chocolate. These are meant to be eaten like the Chicken Xiao Long Bao and eaten in one bite. I wasn't expecting the chocolate to be as good as it was, so rich and fudgy! It was almost like a molten chocolate cake, but with an Asian spin. So good!

This experience was so much better than my last, and now I can't wait to go back!

The Pear Lychee Martini!

The Chicken Xiao Long Bao come with ten to an order, so we each had five.

The Spicy Noodles.

The Chocolate Xiao Long Bao come five to an order, perfect for sharing!
