Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Happy Hour at Fireside Burien

A Frozen Mango Margarita from the happy hour menu at Fireside Burien.

Cheap happy hour Margaritas along with half priced appetizers, served in a dim and rustic setting await at Fireside Burien. Opened in 2021 by three friends, they created a space resembling a Midwest Tavern, in the heart of the PNW. The menu is full of Midwest staples like a Tator Tot dish, a Cincinnati Chili, a Oklahoma Onion Burger, and a Prime Rib Melt. Their interior is dark and lit by a glowing fire in the dining room.

I started off with a Frozen Mango Margarita for just $5 from the HH menu. My husband went with one of his faves- a classic Manhattan. My son and I shared some Wings, and we were able to select two sauces for dipping. I also ordered the HH Smoked Salmon Dip. The dip was pretty runny and not thick like the type I'm used to. There was also a lot of fresh veggies on the plate.

My other son ordered the kids' Cheeseburger. And my husband went with the Prime Rib Melt. The food wasn't anything over the top excellent, but it did satisfy. My favorite part of the meal was the $5 Margs and I even got a second one, because for that price, who wouldn't? For my second, I ordered a classic Frozen Marg.

If you're in this area of Burien, I would recommend checking them out for some Happy Hour bites and drinks!
