Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Flora Roast Launch Party at The Flora Bakehouse

A Maritozzi Bun and an Oat Milk Latte from The Flora Launch Party in Beacon Hill.

My neighborhood bakery, The Flora Bakehouse collaborated with Stumptown Coffee to create a roast called the Organic Flora Roast. Today they're having a launch party featuring free oat milk lattes and coffee- themed treats. I went with my sons and we waited in a small line outside. We bought one of the Maritozzi Buns that they're featuring for the launch party.

This drool-worthy pastry is a traditional Italian milk bun filled with espresso whipped cream and topped with a chocolate drizzle. I also got a free oat milk latte, and I was even able to add a salted caramel syrup. The barista did a cute heart latte art on top. They had a DJ and a raffle, but we headed up the stairs to the outdoor patio. It was a really windy day so we didn't hang out for long. The bakehouse was busy, with all of the upstairs tables that are inside, taken.

The latte hit the spot, and the Maritozzi Italian bun was decadent and sweet! That espresso whipped cream tasted incredible. My son gave me a few bites, and they were some memorable few bites. They were also selling a Tiramisù Soft Serve Sundae that looked good!
