Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Unique Cocktails and Tasty Eats at Mint Progressive Indian

The Calm Before The Storm cocktail, served in an elephant cup! This drink has Black Tea Gin, Limoncello Liqueur, vanilla, lavender, and oat milk.

For modern Indian cuisine in downtown Seattle, head to Mint Progressive Indian. Located on first avenue, this beautiful space both welcomes and dazzles. My husband and I popped in for a weekday lunch and sat at the bar. We were warmly greeted by the lead bartender. They have an impressive cocktail program at Mint, and they're always experimenting and creating new and unique drinks. Their goal at Mint is to pair the cocktails and the food so the flavors match. They do a beautiful job of that, and we were impressed with the drinks and food.

Our cocktails were so cute and fun looking! But not only that, they both tasted incredible. We ordered a Calm Before The Storm, served in the elephant, and the Flamboyant. This cocktail came in a pretty flamingo glass and had Hibiscus infused vodka, pomegranate, Aleo liqueur, Ginger of the Indies, and Orgeat. I'm not sure what the last three ingredients are, but this cocktail tasted delightful.

To eat, we shared some really yummy Garlic Naan and the Butter Chicken. The Naan was so good dipped in the sauce from the chicken. And the chicken was cooked perfectly and was tender. The Makhani sauce was creamy and had a little bit of heat. Both of the drinks went so well with the food.

My husband and I had fun sharing our drink with each other, so this way we could try two of the cocktails. The bartender will be adding new drinks to the menu soon, so I definitely want to go try another one! And while I'm there, I'll have to order the Naan and the Butter Chicken again, because it was so crave worthy and something I'd have again.

If you like upscale dining paired with friendly service, with a menu full of delicious things, you'd like this spot in downtown Seattle!
