Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Stay at the Residence Inn by Marriot in Vancouver

My family has stayed at quite a few hotels in Downtown Vancouver, BC. On our latest visit, we stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriot on Hornby St. This ended up being a solid choice, as the hotel was very nice and had everything we needed. The parking wasn't crazy, it was $31 CA a night, and we only stayed for one night. There was a pool and hot tub, which we used and our boys had lots of fun. There was also a complimentary breakfast, located in a nice and very large room. There were two waffle makers, and a nice buffet of breakfast foods.

We were happy with our room. We stayed in a standard room with two queen beds. There was a kitchen with a counter and stools. There was also a nice sized desk with chairs. Our view wasn't anything too spectacular, just some office buildings and construction across the street. I got a good rate on Expedia and since I'm a gold member, I only paid $155 total for the night. This is in no way sponsored, I just like sharing where we stay. This way I can look back on it and remember and maybe help others decide where to stay!

The kitchen and desk area in our room.

This bathroom was a nice one, it seemed newly renovated. The rainfall shower head was a great touch.

Our room even had a dishwasher, dish soap, paper towels, and plenty of dishes. This hotel would be so nice if you're staying a while.

A neat painting of Vancouver in the lobby.

The lobby was a nice touch. There was lots of seating.

A pretty standard pool and hot tub! So great to use during a hotel stay!

Part of the breakfast room! Lots of comfy couches and tv's while you're having a leisurely complimentary breakfast.

Who can resist a fresh waffle, especially with whipped cream? Both my sons wanted one, so I braved the waffle line!
