Here are my ten favorite travel photos I took in 2023! Every December I do a wrap-up of my fav shots from the year. It's a fun way to look at where I traveled and my highlights.
This year I finally visited Disneyland and Universal Studios as an adult! The last time I went I was seven, and I was waiting to go back ever since. I wanted to wait until I had kids and they were old enough to remember the magic for their whole lives. I still have a lot of core memories from my first Disneyland trip, so it was awesome making some new memories with my husband and kids! I loved my experience so much at Disney and Universal, that now I can't wait to visit the parks in other places!
A statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse stands in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland, CA. There's no shortage of great shots to be found in this original Disney Park! There are also tons of magic, good food, incredible attractions, and many memories to be found!
Cars Land at Disney California Adventure was everything and more! When my boys were four or so, the Cars movie was their favorite. As a family, we watched it so many times! And we dreamed of one day visiting this land at DCA. Pro tip - go at both day and nighttime and don't forget to ride Radiator Racers! If you love taking photos like I do, you'll get a ton of shots you'll always treasure.
Universal Studios in Los Angeles was another spot my family dreamed about visiting. My sons and I really wanted to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We watched all of the movies so we'd get even more excited to check it out. The day we visited was pouring rain, but I still managed to get some cool and memorable shots.
In 2023 we also went back to Vancouver, BC for the first time since February 2020. This is one of our favorite cities because of its natural beauty, architecture, and vibrant food scene. I took this photo of a neat art installation in Yaletown!
We traveled to Montana again this summer to visit my family. This is my favorite photo from the trip. I shot this at Fish Creek in Glacier National Park.
In August we took the Washington State Ferry to Bainbridge Island. We then drove to Sequim to visit my in-laws for an overnight. But first we stopped at this noteworthy coffeeshop in Bainbridge Island. Pegasus Coffee is a staple in this island WA town. Most people from Washington recognize their exterior that just begs to be photographed!
For most people, summertime means Fair time! We love to visit the WA State Fair every September. This year I got some nice shots from the top of the Ferris Wheel.
This fall, we headed to the OR Coast. We visited Newport, OR and checked out the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. I like this photo of my son taking in the scene. This was his first visit to this particular lighthouse. He adores lighthouses as much as me. They're one of my favorite things to photograph!
The drive along Highway 101 on the Oregon Coast is a special one. We stopped for a minute so I could grab some photos. This one was my favorite. I captured this beach shot from above right as the last dregs of sunset were happening.
This year the NW Trolls: The Way of the Bird King art installation started. Currently there are six trolls in WA and one in Portland, OR. So far, I have seen and took photos of three of the trolls. Pictured here is Jakob Two Trees, located in Issaquah, WA.
I hope you've enjoyed checking out some of my travel photography from this year.
