Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Wooden City Tavern for Tinsel Town | A Holiday Pop-Up Bar

Check out my festive Santa cocktail! This is the Sleigh Pilot drink from Wooden City's Christmas pop-up bar!

If you're searching for holiday pop-up bars in Seattle that are family friendly, check out the one at Wooden City Tavern in Greenlake. Called Tinsel Town, they have seasonal drinks and decor galore! Their bar is called Santa's Surf shack and they're featuring a selection of fun holiday Tiki drinks. They were very busy when I visited, so my family and I had to wait about fifty minutes for a table. But we made the most of it and went across the street to Greenlake Bar and Grill for a round of drinks while we waited. See that post here

We've eaten at Wooden City in Tacoma, so we knew the food would be delicious. We ordered a deep-dish cheese pizza to share. The crust was so airy and was the perfect texture. We had already had appetizers across the street, so we weren't overly hungry. I ordered a Sleigh Pilot and it came in the most festive Santa cup! It was really strong, featured four rums and even had Absinthe. My husband's cocktail came in a Santa's boot and was a Rudolph's Red Nosed Painkiller. Both cocktails sleighed! (Get it, slayed?!)

It was really busy because the local college football team, the Huskies, were playing in Las Vegas, and they had big screen tv's there. The whole restaurant was decorated to the nines in a Christmas theme, but the sounds were of people cheering and the announcer on the TV. Kind of a funny contrast, but I was super entertained by how cute the cocktails were and how everything looked in the restaurant to care.

They open daily at 4, so I would recommend going when they open to get a table. Especially as we get even closer to Christmas! There's a lot of holiday pop-up bars in Seattle, but most of them are 21 and over. If you have kids, Tinsel Town at Wooden City is an amazing option!
