Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Three fun spots in and around Pike Place Market

A small cup of the Pumpkin Pie flavor from Hellenika Cultured Creamery at Pike Place Market.

It had been a while since I explored Pike Place Market and there were some new spots to check out. My first visit was Artly, a coffeeshop near the market. This coffee shop is special. They use robots to make the coffee! When you enter, you order your drink on a screen. Then a robot makes the drink, and its so cool to watch. I got a Hot Chocolate with Oat Milk. Then, the robot places the drink down in front of you, then says the name of the drink and your name. Such a unique and fun experience, pretty close to Pike Place Market. They're located on 1st and Stewart.

Then I grabbed something sweet! Hellenika Cultured Creamery is a new frozen treat shop in the market. They have Greek frozen dessert in delicious flavors and they even give out samples. Right away I knew I wanted the Pumpkie Pie one. It was so creamy and smooth, and the flavor was spot on. Is it ice cream, frozen yogurt, or gelato? I don't know. But it was sure tasty!

My last stop was to check out the shop, The Alabaster Owl. This is a very small store, about 300 square feet, and chock full of magical things. The owner loves Harry Potter and collecting wizardy things, so she opened up a store. I didn't actually go in, however, as they were having some issues and had to clean up some broken glass. I waited a while, and still no customers could enter the store. I did get some cute shots of the exterior and the exterior from Post Alley. So the inside will remain a mystery.
