Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Jackson Street Pizza

A half cheese and half pepperoni pizza from Jackson Street Pizza in Seattle's Central District.

For craft cocktails and hand-tossed pizzas with a cozy neighborhood feel, check out Jackson Street Pizza.  They opened this June in the former spot of Central Pizza. Slide into a booth by the window and order some fresh and hot pizza! They offer a daily happy hour with $5 slices. Note: this is only for the bar, so be aware. You can order slices in the restaurant side, but they're not as inexpensive. I didn't ask how much a slice runs for, but a whole pizza will set you back about $25. Since we visited during Halloween weekend, the whole place was spookified. We liked the carved pumpkins and spider decor!

My husband and I each started with a Two Pals cocktail. This drink is similar to a Sidecar but instead of a sugared rim, its replaced with a flamed orange peel giving the drink a toasted orange flavor. So good! We also shared a Ubangi drink. This one is similar to a Black Manhattan.

We ended up getting two pizzas for the four of us. Each pizza has six slices. Their pie is hand-tossed, American style. It tasted similar to Flying Squirrel Pizza in Georgetown and Seattle's Pagliacci Pizza.

We had half cheese and half pepperoni. I'm a big pepperoni fan, so I loved the two types on my pizza. It had both pepperoni cups and large pepperoni pieces. So yummy!

The pizza was good and the cocktails were nice and strong. Add this Seattle spot to your list of pizza joints to try!
