Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Visit to the Washington State Fair on Opening Day

What a view from the Ferris Wheel at the WA State Fair!

It's that time of year again. It's fair time! The Washington State Fair in Puyallup is back September 1-24th. We went yesterday for the first day. Kids enter for free all weekend. My sons and I love fair rides, and we couldn't wait to ride some! They also have new food this year. We tried the Churros from Churreria. They had multiple types of churros. We had ours filled with chocolate. This was probably the best churro we've tried. It was super fresh, thick, and we loved the chocolate filling.

They also have some new rides and attractions. They have balls where you can ride inside and float on water. Not for us, but fun to watch other floating. We always enjoy seeing the animals. The horses, goats, and llamas are cool to see. My son and I rode the Ferris Wheel and loved the views of the whole fair. For dinner, we had some eats from Kamaaina Grill. We tried some Spam Musubi and Huli Chicken. The portions were enough for two and really decent for fair food! Then we ended on a sweet note with a Dole Whip!
