Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Lunch at Star Brass Works Lounge in Georgetown

The rotating slushie from Star Brass Works Lounge - a Whiskey Peach Tea!

My husband and I enjoyed lunch at Star Brass Works Lounge on their patio. Don't miss this bar in Georgetown that has a full lunch and dinner menu, plus cocktails. This is one of those classic Georgetown bars that's been around a while. This was my first, and hopefully not last, time visiting. We entered through the bar and right away the bartender made our drinks. We opened a tab and went right outside to their sun filled patio and found a table.

I was happy to see they had a couple of slushie machines with two flavors. I chose the Whiskey Peach Tea and it was perfect! This was exactly what I was wanting, and it even came with a cocktail cherry on top. Their drinks pack a punch and hit the spot especially while sipping it in the sunshine. My husband's cocktail had mezcal and was also delicious. We decided to share a couple of food items for our lunch. We went with the Onion Rings and the Steak Bites. We also got a side of Tavern BBQ sauce and Ranch for dipping. The Onion Rings were a nice portion for sharing and the steak bites were cooked just right.

The prices weren't bad at all and the drinks were around $12, which we liked. My husband also tried an Old Fashioned which I tried, and it was perfectly made. We really enjoyed their outdoor space. Their patio is large and they're able to accommodate lots of diners. There's a nice combination of covered tables and uncovered, if you love to soak up the sun. This lounge in Georgetown is a vibe, especially sunny days on their patio.
