Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos. Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying. My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again. My family and I recently dined at Great American Diner and Bar in West Seattle. They've been open since 2017 and serve homestyle comfort food. The menu has a wide variety of options. They also have a full bar with affordable and strong drinks. I got a Mai Tai for around $8, which is great in today's economy. They have a kid's menu with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Since it is a diner, breakfast is served all day. My boys enjoy breakfast food, so they chose the pancakes and French Toast. Each entree came with scrambled eggs and either bacon or sausage.

I was craving nachos, so I ordered the Chicken Nachos. The serving was big, easily enough for two people to share. There was also a nice amount of sour cream, guac, and salsa. My husband ordered the Fish and Chips which came with three large pieces of fish.

They have a decent happy hour menu, which is Sun-Thurs with food and drink discounts. I may have to come back to try that out. We found the service to be warm and welcoming. This is a good option in West Seattle if you're looking for a friendly neighborhood diner that also serves cocktails!
