Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Voila! Bistrot

A spread of delicious eats at Voila! Bistrot.

A notable spot in Seattle for French food is Voila! Bistrot in Madison Valley. My family and I recently dined there and we enjoyed some lovely and tasty dishes! This was our second visit, and you can see the post from that experience below.

They have a full bar, so we started off with a cocktail. My husband had a Sazerac and I had a St. Tropez. The St. Tropez has Vodka, grapefruit juice Littet Blanc, and a touch of St. Germaine. This cocktail tasted amazing and was strong.

We all shared some dishes. We ordered the Frites, some bread from Macrina Bakery, a cheese plate, a salad, and the French Onion soup. The salad was part of the day's special and was a Panzanella. This salad has fresh tomatoes, onions, olives, capers, basil, and Artisan bread that is soaked in a dressing and resembles croutons. The salad was so fresh and went well with our other dishes.

The cheese plate was plated so cute and came with candied walnuts, some jam, and apple slices. There were three kinds of cheese. They also brought us some additional bread to accompany the cheese. The soup was really hot and had a nice, thick layer of cheese on top.

Everything was satisfying and we felt transported to Paris!
