Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Birthday Par-tee at Topgolf

One way to celebrate Sunday Funday? A Mimosa at Topgolf!

My family and I checked out Topgolf in Renton! Our friend had his birthday party there and they rented out three of the climate-controlled hitting bays. Each hitting bay accommodates six players. Each player scans a play card and then selects their club. Then you wave the club by a sensor that dispenses the golf ball. Then just swing and hit! I had only played mini golf before, so this was fun!

The birthday party for our friend was golf themed, or course! His cake was so cool and fit right into the theme. The cake was from Cakes of Paradise Bakery in Georgetown. For birthdays, the staff comes over and sings and carries on for the birthday person. They also presented us with donut holes with injectable jam and custard.

My husband and I tried some of the cocktails. He had a Bloody Mary and I had a Mimosa. We also shared a Long Island Iced Tea. To eat, we had Chicken Strips, Mini Sliders, Tator Tots, and grapes to eat. We also had some Chips, salsa, and Hot Queso for dipping.

There are three floors at Topgolf. The first floor has a gift shop, bar and dining, Swing Suites with Virtual golf games, and Air Hockey. The other floors have a bar and the hitting bays to practice your golf swing and hang out with your friends!

Topgolf was such a sweet spot to party and play. We loved getting to practice our swing and celebrate our friend's birthday!
