Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Cookies

Life is uncertain, but a cookie is a sure thing.

Do you always get the White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut cookies when you go to Subway? If you can't get enough of those, I found a recipe for how to bake them at home. I found the recipe for the cookies here at Crazyforcrust.com.

The cookies were easy to make. They aren't super-fast, since the dough needs to chill for a couple of hours. But no mixer is needed, just one bowl and a spoon. These cookies have crunchy macadamia nuts and white chocolate chips, and they're so satisfying. My husband and I ate a cookie warm, out of the oven, and they were the perfect thing to have after lunch.

Last weekend, I bought a cute Mickey Mouse cookie jar at TJ Maxx. So I was a little inspired to bake some cookies to put in the jar. The cookies looked great in the jar, but they won't last long in there!

Since I didn't make any adjustments to the recipe, you can go here for the original recipe. Happy baking and cookie eating!
