Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at The Harvest Vine | Spring 2023

My family and I dined at The Harvest Vine recently. I love this spot for its Spanish Tapas. The food is served family style and each dish is brought out individually. When I dine here, I feel transported to Spain because of the Spanish music, the authentic food and wine, and the overall rustic European feel.

I find the food so tasty, it's easy to overeat here. We had a lot of dishes on this visit, and I was so full. I recommend making reservations. They have a large downstairs dining room and also tables on the first floor. If you sit there, you can watch the action in the open kitchen.

We sat downstairs at one of the larger tables.

A crisp and bubbly glass of Rose Cava to start my meal. Their wine menu is a notable one and is one of the biggest in Seattle. I recommend starting with a bubbly glass of Rose Cave to get things started.

I love the bubbles!

We started with the Gilda, the Vinegar Cured Anchovy, piparra peppers, and olives. The peppers were really spicy!

Then we polished off the Ensalada Rusa, the Tuna Del Norte salad on grilled bread. This was a hearty dish because of the bread and made me full quickly! I could have just eaten this for dinner, they were so delicious!

We love the bread they serve from the Grand Central Bakery, and we also ordered the Olive Oil Tasting.

Next up was the Tortilla Espanola, a Potato Onion Omelet. This is a common dish in Spain, and always so good.

I always enjoy the Cauliflower and this time it was served with a Romesco sauce, a red pepper sauce.

The Grilled Navarran Pork Sausage. This savory and salty sausage is served with grilled bread. My sons each grabbed a piece before I took this photo. Six pieces of grilled bread comes with the sausage.

I'm also a fan of their reds, and I had a glass of the Tempranillo wine. This red wine is light, dry, oaky, and pairs well with the red meat dishes.

After the sausage, we had the Rabo De Toro, which is Oxtail. This savory dish was served with veggies and had a puff pastry. The oxtail was shredded and was so savory and tender.

Before having some dessert, we tasted a couple of cheeses. You can order the cheese by the ounce. We had some Goat Cheese and some Manchego. The Goat Cheese was so creamy, and the Manchego was nutty and flavorful.

We ordered several desserts. We had the Tarta de Pistacho, a chocolate tart with a nutty pistachio crust. Their chocolate tarts are some of my favorite things to eat.

We also tried the Tarta de Santiago. It had a pomegranate lemon curd that was absolutely delicious. The tart was moist and was a cinnamon almond cake.

We also had the ice cream, which comes with three flavors. We had Pistachio, Vanilla with Caramel, and a really creamy Goat Cheese and Pomegranate. That one was my fav and tasted like cheesecake.
