Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Stay at Hotel Blu in Vancouver, BC

During our overnight to Vancouver over Spring Break, we stayed at Hotel Blu in downtown. Our stay was interesting. The building was sleek looking and the lobby was modern and luxurious. Our room was nice with two queen beds. But the bathroom was a little odd. The shower was a standing one, but with a clear side, visible from the rest of the hotel room. However, there was a shade you could close from the outside.

I'm not sure who thought of this, but it was a little strange. We had to remind our sons not to mess with the shade and peer into the bathroom when one of us was in there. The shower itself was not great because the water wasn't warm. There were two shower attachments, a rainfall from above that only had cool water, and then a handheld one that was very difficult to use. When I turned on the shower for my son, the whole bathroom and myself got soaked.

They did have a nice indoor pool and hot tub, which we had fun at. We also received free parking from booking our room on Expedia. They have a breakfast room, but we didn't get complimentary breakfast, so we got some food from a convenience store nearby. Their gym also looked good, and they even have some Peloton bikes.

The location was pretty central to everything. Most of the stores and restaurants on Robson are walking distance. Hotel Blu is also really close to Canada Place and BC Place. They have two restaurants on-site, which we received a card for a 10% discount.
