Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Lunch at Hatback Bar and Grille

The Chipotle Chicken Nachos from Hatback in Seattle.

Hatback Bar and Grille opened a few months ago in Seattle's Sodo district. They're located across the street from T-Mobile Park, and they're in the space that was once the Pyramid Ale House. Hatback is inspired by the rich sports history of the Pacific Northwest. With twenty T.V screens, this is the spot to watch sports and have some game day eats and other classic American dishes. Hatback pays tribute to the Mariners baseball team and the name is inspired by Ken Griffey Jr. who always wore his hat backwards. Right next door to the restaurant and bar is their onsite Microbrewery, Steelheads Alley. Read more about it here

My husband and I were seated at a cozy booth. They were playing Pearl Jam, my husband's favorite band. We each started with a cocktail. I had the Banana Daiquiri which had rum, banana, and lime. The drink had a nice, subtle fruity flavor. The lime gave it a nice touch and it went down easy. My husband had a spicy and smoky cocktail, a Caliente Margarita.

We shared two appetizers, the Chipotle Chicken Nachos and the Korean Chicken Wings. The nachos were a little spicy and had pickled Mama Lil's Peppers. These nachos hit the spot for sure. The chicken wings were really spicy and messy, so if you love spicy wings you'll like these ones. I wish they'd serve these wings with moist towelettes or even some paper napkins. My cloth napkin didn't do the job.

The interior of Hatback gave me Sodo industrial vibes, which is great, because that's where we were. It feels like an upscale sports bar. The food is definitely more elevated than most sports bars however. The drinks are perfectly crafted and there's care and extra attention in the food. Would I go back to Hatback? Definitely! Especially for the music and cocktails.
