Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Brunch at Marination Columbia City

The Loco Moco dish from Marination in Columbia City.

Marination Columbia City used to be Super Six. They're the same owners but wanted to rename it to match their two other locations. They serve Hawaiian-Korean Fusion. We've visited their location on Alki Beach. There's a huge patio, with a view of the water and the Seattle skyline. The menu at Columbia City is similar, but they have a weekend Brunch.

I wanted to check out Marination's new space and have brunch. My family and I went with a couple of our friends. It's first come, first serve, but they do have additional seating upstairs. We were able to push a couple of tables together. You order your food and drinks at the counter, and you're given a buzzer.

Three of us each tried a cocktail. I had a Lychee Margarita. It was a sour drink but was very pretty! It had Reposado Tequila, lychee, and lime. My husband had a P.O.G with rum. This fruity Hawaiian drink has Passion Fruit, Guava, and Orange juice. Our friend drank a Thatcher which had bourbon, guava puree, Avaze, and citrus cordial.

To eat, my husband and friends had the Loco Moco dish. This traditional Hawaiian dish has a beef patty, brown gravy, white rice, and two sunny side up eggs. They also got an order of the Hash Brown Patties with Adobe seasoning. I had an Island Parfait which had yogurt, granola, and guava jam.

I also ate some Coffee Cake which came with a yummy and sweet Lilikoi (passion fruit) frosting. My sons had Coffee Cake and some Soyrizo Frittata Musubi. It's like a Spam Musubi, but with a non-meat Soyrizo and it had egg on top. They were out of Spam Musubi, and my son couldn't tell the difference.

They did a great job with the restaurants' interior and the cuisine will transport you to Hawaii! They have a lot of other yummy brunch options like Macadamia Pancakes, Pork Sliders, and Chicken and Waffles on a Hong Kong bubble waffle. Check this spot out if you're craving Hawaiian-Korean Fusion!
