Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Noi Thai Cuisine

To celebrate the holiday season and the last day of school for my sons before winter break, we went out to dinner at Noi Thai Cuisine. Seattle has two locations, and they also have one in Bend, OR and Honolulu. At Noi, they serve high quality cuisine and take pride in giving their guests authentic Thai flavors. This was our first time, and it was quite a dark and cozy space. I started with a Tiki Maitai cocktail and my husband had a Vieux Carre which was basically an Old Fashioned.

We started with an order of the Spring Rolls with tofu. This appetizer was light and fresh and served with a peanut sauce on the side. For my main dish, I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai from the happy hour menu. This was a half order of the one from the regular menu. That one is served family style and kind of pricey. My husband had the Red Curry Chicken served with white rice. My sons each had a dish from the kid's menu. One had Chicken Fried Rice and my other son had Garlic Chicken. The Garlic Chicken was deep fried and tasted so juicy. Everything else tasted delicious and pretty standard to other Thai food we've eaten.

The food was on the pricier side and the interior was upscale and dimly lit. This is a nice spot for celebrations and gatherings. This would also be a great spot for grabbing happy hour with friends.  We checked out their downtown Seattle location which is on the Harbor Steps on 1st Ave.
