Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. Checking out the Gingerbread Village at the Sheraton Grand Seattle | Buzzing Back

One of the Buzz Lightyear Gingerbread displays currently on display at the Sheraton Grand Seattle.

The Gingerbread Village is back again at the Sheraton Grand Seattle. This year's them is called Buzzing Back and Buzz Lightyear is featured. They used over 850 pounds of gingerbread and 200 pounds of royal icing! The display is striking, playful, and festive. And if you love Toy Story like me, you'll love this display.

The event is free to check out, but you can give a donation that goes to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Northwest Chapter. The Gingerbread Village goes until January 1st. Because of the crazy weather over Christmas, we waited until today, (a couple days after Christmas) to go. Since we visited on a weekday, there were only a few other people there.

If you're in downtown Seattle this week and haven't yet checked out the display, I recommend it. The display isn't very large and takes about fifteen minutes to look at. If you're a Disney, Toy Story, or Lightyear fan, it's definitely worth stopping in.
