Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Bay Street Grille in Florence, OR

Something spooky to sip on? At Bay Street Grille I enjoyed this Candy Corn Martini with Chambord.

Looking for a spot in Florence, OR with fun cocktails and bar food? Look no further than Bay Street Grille. They're located right in the heart of Florence in Old Town, on Bay St. They were fully decked out for Halloween. They have lots of high-backed booths and other seating options. They even have a fireplace with couches.

They had lots of fun Halloween cocktails to choose from. Our server made me a unique cocktail, a Candy Corn Martini with Chambord. The drink tasted like raspberries and was sweet, tangy, and strong. It had a sparkly, grey sugared rim and was topped with whipped cream. My husband tried another one of their signature Halloween drinks. It also had Chambord and it had a sparkly red sugared rim. We shared another cocktail. They were delicious and not overly pricey, like the drinks in Seattle. We don't remember the name, but like the other drinks, it was strong and had Chambord.

I went with two appetizers. I had some Jalapeno Poppers and the Spinach Artichoke Dip with slices of baguette. Our sons had Mac and Cheese from the kid's menu and my husband had a Chicken Burger. The food was fine, not blow you away impressive. But the drinks were delicious, and the ambiance was also fun. Our server was helpful and gave good service.
