Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Happy 4th of July!

Yesterday was America's birthday! Our country turned 256 years old. When I think of the 4th of July, I think of gorgeous firework displays, delicious food, and red, white, and blue. And that's exactly what yesterday was! My family and I attended a friend's party at their home in Gig Harbour, WA. They had lots of decorations everywhere, a DJ, a bouncy house, and tons of food. My friend had some pretty and very patriotic cakes which I couldn't resist taking some photos of. Sadly, we left before they cut into them.

My favorite part of the party, besides seeing some friends we hadn't seen in a while, were the Jell-O Shots! These weren't your average Jell-O Shots; these were in plastic syringes and really fun to consume! My friend made them, and they had four different flavors to choose from. They tasted pretty strong, but really cold and tasty, too!

There were a lot of desserts, but we tried a red, white, and blue sugar cookie. I took a really patriotic shot of one with some decorations in the background. Then we drove back to Seattle and watched the fireworks from our living room. Our view looks out to West Seattle and South Seattle. The fireworks kept going until around 1 am. I hope you had a fun and festive 4th of July!
