Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Visit to Stumptown Wine Bar in Whitefish, MT

A glass of bubbly and crisp Brute Cava from Stumptown Wine Bar in Whitefish.

Our first stop in the Flathead Valley was Stumptown Wine Bar in Whitefish. Whitefish is seven miles from Columbia Falls, so we had a drink and some dinner before arriving at my mom's house. Stumptown opened last year and is a ski themed bar and restaurant. An Après destination, since Whitefish is a ski town, located next to Whitefish Mountain Resort. Après Ski refers to the activity of eating and drinking with friends and family after a day of skiing. I'm surprised no one opened a spot like this before. It's the perfect dining destination for this town.

Stumptown's interior is one for the books. You can't help but want to explore every nook and cranny of the space. From the wine bottles that are displayed, to the hanging skis and other ski memorabilia. The bathrooms even have a ski bunny theme, which we loved. Take a seat at the bar where you and your buddies can do a "Champski", just like a Shotski, but with Champagne. That's just what my hubby and I did. We chose Brute Cava in ours and the bartender took photos of us. This was a foodie bucket list item for me, and it was so fun!

There are lots of seating options at Stumptown. We selected a couple of couches with a table in the middle. That way we could spread out and relax. The server brought us complimentary popcorn. My husband chose a beer, and I had a glass of the bubbly and crisp Brute Cava. He had a Kale Salad and I ordered the Burrata. It was served with Grilled Bread and Vinegar Infused Tomatoes. They even have a kids' menu and my sons had the Fried Chicken. We shared some fries which were House Cut Russet Potatoes. Everything paired so well with my Brute Cava.

Don't pass up the spot if you're in downtown Whitefish! I love themed bars and restaurants and this place was so much fun!
