Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Pizzeria Credo

The Finocchiata pizza from Pizzeria Credo in West Seattle.

If you like Neapolitan pizza (Naples-style pizza) then run, don't walk, to Pizzeria Credo. Their pizza is authentic and made in a wood-fired oven from Italy. As you wait for your food, you can watch them making it, pulling fresh and hot pies right out the oven, and preparing delicious looking salads. They're located in West Seattle on California Ave. Since the West Seattle Bridge is still closed, it takes us about forty minutes to get to West Seattle now. But the drive was worth it as we bit into our pizza. Pizzeria Credo has won many awards over the years, and they were even featured on Guy Fieri's, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

My husband started with a Manhattan to drink. It came in a pretty big martini glass and was made well. He let me have a couple of sips. We also shared a Passion Fruit Martini. It was on the thicker side and was made with Vodka, Passion Fruit puree, simple syrup, and fresh lime juice. We shared a Credo Salad to start off with. It had organic greens, sliced apples, walnuts, Fontina cheese, and an apple vinaigrette dressing. It was a good-sized salad for sharing and it tasted so fresh. I really liked the sharp Fontina and the thin apple slices.

We ordered three pies for the four of us. Each pizza was sliced into four big pieces. The pizzas are really thin and aren't super filling, unless you polish off the whole thing. I was able to eat two big pieces and left full and really satisfied. The leftovers the next day were just as tasty. I had the Finocchiata which has sausage, leeks, caramelized onions, mozzarella, and San Marzano tomato sauce. It tasted incredible. The crust was perfect and the toppings went so well together.

My husband had a Margherita pizza and he was really impressed by the quality of it. Our sons shared a Cinque Formaggi, a five cheese pizza. I tried it and I could have eaten more than a few bites. But I had to stop myself since I already had my own pizza. They get pretty busy for dining in. It seems like mostly locals and regulars go, and a lot of people were picking up pizza to go. We've tried a lot of pizza in Seattle, and this is one of the best!
