Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. A visit to Olympia Coffee

A Mocha with Oat Milk from Olympia Coffee in Columbia City, Seattle.

What to do on a rainy day in Seattle? Go grab a cup of coffee at a local spot! Yeah, Starbucks is easy and you know just what to expect. But sometimes, it feels more adventurous to try a "new to you" place, and to support a local business. So, I went to Columbia City, a neighborhood close to mine, to check out Olympia Coffee. Funnily enough, it used to be a Starbucks. It looks way cooler now though. Olympia Coffee is from Olympia, WA and has three stores there, one in Tacoma, and two in Seattle. Their first store opened in Olympia in 2007. They're proud of their coffee and they have a rich history you can read about here

I chose a medium Mocha with Oat Milk. They also sell pastries like croissants and muffins, and cookies from Lowrider Cookie Company. My sons each chose a Birthday Cake cookie because they love the sprinkles. I really enjoyed my mocha. It wasn't overly sweet and reminded me of a dark chocolate bar. Perfect for a rainy weekend afternoon!
