Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Visit to Mochinut Southcenter

Some yummy Mochi donuts from Mochinut at Southcenter Mall in Tukwila.

Westfield Southcenter is chock full of good places to eat and drink. Mochinut opened this year in the food court and I checked it out for a quick lunch. Along with Mochi Donuts they also have Rice Flour Hotdogs and Boba Tea. The Hotdogs are Korean corn dogs with your choice of filling and coating, and one dipping sauce. For the donuts, they sell them in quantities of three or more.

We selected an Ube with Fruity Pebbles, a Circus Lychee, and a Churros Choco one. I also ordered an Ube Milk Tea with Tapioca. My husband and I also shared a Rice Flour Hotdog coated with Flaming Hot Cheetos and half mozzarella and half beef hotdog inside. It wasn't busy at the mall so we didn't have to wait long for our treats!

After taking a bunch of photos, we dug into our not so healthy, but so delicious lunch. It was really more of a snack since we shared everything. We even saved half of the donuts for our boys who were in school. Aren't we nice? My fav donut was the one with Fruity Pebbles since I liked the fruity flavor with the Ube. The animal cracker on the Lychee one was a cute touch, and my son's favorite was the churro one. My milk tea was a little too sweet and felt heavy because of all the milk. The tapioca was also too soft.

We really liked the corn dog. It was really spicy from the Hot Cheetos. The mozz inside was a little much for my husband, but I enjoyed it. What can I say? I love cheese. He really liked the beef part though! These are pretty big and hefty corn dogs, so sharing one is perfect! Mochinut is such a great addition to Southcenter's food court. I definitely recommend grabbing a snack, a treat, or a small meal there!
