Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Saturday in December

There's only so many weekends in December to celebrate the joy of the season. There's light displays to check out, dinners with family, and lots of treats to try! And those three things are what I did yesterday, just not in that order. First up, my son and I went to The Flora Bakehouse and buy some pastries for our family. They had their bakery all decked out for the holidays and it looked so festive.

They had a Twice Baked Passion Fruit Almond Croissant topped with Toasted Meringue I couldn't resist. It just looked too pretty and glorious. They also were selling incredible looking brownies with a thick peppermint frosting. They were even Vegan and Gluten Free. Back at home, we shared our treats and they tasted so high quality and Christmassy. The brownie was super dense and I loved the peppermint frosting. We loved the toasted meringue on the croissant and the filling was so flavorful.

When darkness started falling, we drove to downtown Seattle to see the holiday decor. Every year the tree is different, so of course every year we have to go see it. They also had a beautiful light display set up and there was no shortage of people taking selfies. This year there was even a stage with live performers. And they had firepits with stuff to make s'mores. It really was a vibe in downtown!

For dinner we headed to Columbia City to Taco City. They have heated, outdoor seating and a daily happy hour from 3-6 pm. I saved a bunch on my food and Margarita. I had the Chicken Quesadillas, some chips with salsa and guac, and a Strawberry Marg. They had a pretty Christmas tree and even a D.J, spinning some tunes.

Such a fun Saturday during the holiday season!
