Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Happy Hour at Victor Tavern

Some Happy Hour apps and drinks from the new Victor Tavern in SLU!

Ethan Stowell recently opened a new restaurant. Called Victor Tavern, its located across the street from the Spheres in South Lake Union. They are a modern urban tavern with burgers, pretzels, wings, craft cocktails and more. They have a daily happy hour from 4-6 which we decided to check out. There's also an upstairs mezzanine with pool tables, TV's, and a bar. Victor Tavern is located near the lobby of the Via6 apartment tower, so you almost get more of a hotel, condo feel in the restaurant. The previous space was a Tom Douglas restaurant, Tanakasan, which my husband and I checked out before on a date night.

I started with a drink off the HH menu, a Daiquiri. My husband chose an Old Fashioned. Then the four of us shared some Fries, Chicken Wings, and a Pretzel. My husband also had the Victor Burger with fries. The food was pretty standard tavern food. Nothing over the top, just some grub to fill us up on the rainy Friday night. The wings had a Buffalo sauce and pretty spicy. The pretzel had a nice flavor but was on the harder side.

Victor Tavern is convenient for people who live upstairs or work in the area at Amazon. They also have a nice and large outdoor dining area which was quite busy by the time we left. There are heaters and its covered, too. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there again, but it was fun to check out a new Seattle restaurant!
