Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Visit To Rhein Haus's Outdoor Biergarten

A giant pretzel with dipping sauces from Rhein Haus.

Huge oversized pretzels and Frose at an outdoor biergarten in Seattle? Count me in! A few years ago, my husband and I dined at Rhein Haus for a date night and sat inside. So this time we brought our boys and grabbed one of the tables outside in their biergarten. They have lots of tables, but you do have to order on your from the QR code on the table. This can be a pain if you have questions about the menu. It was happy hour, but for some reason we didn't get the discount prices.

I ordered a Frose which had grapefruit and was super refreshing. My husband had a Hurricane to drink. He also had the Brisket Sliders which only come two to an order. My sons and I shared a really, really big pretzel and it came with three sauces. There was a whipped cheddar, a beer cheese, and a spicy mustard. We also shared some fries. Extra sauce was $1. Everything hit the spot! Loved the pretzel and the sauces. We almost finished it all, but not quite! This spot is perfect on a sunny day with a cold drink and some German eats.
