Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Visit to Vitality Bowls in SLU

An Acai Bowl with strawberries and pineapple from Vitality Bowls in Seattle.

I was invited to Vitality Bowls in South Lake Union to try one of their Acai Bowls. This location has been open for about ten months. Along with Acai Bowls they serve smoothies, salads, soups, juices, and panini. They pride themselves on serving fresh and high quality superfoods. They're part of a franchise that was first started in 2011 in CA. You can read more about that here

If you're not familiar with Acai, it's pronounced like ah-sigh-ee and is an antioxidant-rich organic berry. Acai Bowls typically have Acai, organic granola, and fresh superfoods and fruits. What I liked about Vitality Bowls is they don't use any frozen yogurt, ice, or artificial ingredients in their bowls. I was looking forward to trying this vibrant looking snack, so when they reached out to me, I quickly set up a time to drop by.

I chose an Acai Bowl with organic acai, granola, pineapple, and strawberries. My husband purchased one of their panini, a grass-fed Sirloin one. Since they make everything fresh to order, there was a little bit of a wait. But it was worth it when I took a bite. It tasted really fresh and the acai was nice and chilled. The fruit was sweet and refreshing.

Their bowls are huge servings and definitely enough for two people. Trying this was a fun and tasty experience. An Acai Bowl is a delicious snack you can eat with no guilt since its really healthy. Thank you to Vitality Bowls for the Acai Bowl!
