Three spots to dine in Leavenworth, WA

For Spring Break, my family and I did an overnight in Leavenworth, WA. This fun Bavarian village is a little over two hours from Seattle. The town is nestled in the mountains, making for some gorgeous vistas. There's no shortage of restaurants if you're a foodie. And if you love nature and being outside, you'd love visiting. Leavenworth is the perfect weekend getaway. I took a day trip years ago, and I always wanted to return and stay the night. This time we stayed at the Icicle Village Resort, which I'll talk about more in my next post. I highly recommend staying there.

                                                                         Baren Haus

The first thing we did when we arrived in Leavenworth was eat some lunch. I chose Baren Haus because their menu looked good and they have outdoor seating. The weather during our visit was beautiful and warm for April. It was in the high 70's and really sunny. While we waited for our food and drinks, I got a little bit of a tan. Unfortunately since we arrived around 1:30 pm, it was a bit of a late lunch and they seemed understaffed. We did have to wait extra long for our meals, but the wait was worth it when I took a bite of my pasta. My husband and I shared a plate of Spaghetti. We had half meat sauce and half Mizithra cheese. It was nice and hot, there was lots of sauce, and the flavor of the meat sauce was nice. And of course, we're Mizithra fans and love the flavor of the cheese with the meat sauce.

They also have a kid's menu, so my sons each ordered a grilled cheese with fries. Our pasta came with salad and a huge piece of bread with garlic butter on the side, which we all shared. I had a Mimosa and my husband had a Bloody Mary. The menu at Baren Haus has something for everyone, as I noticed most of the restaurants in Leavenworth do. Yes, most places in town serve German food. But if you're not wanting German cuisine, there's lots of other items, too. There's some Mexican and Italian restaurants, if you want a whole other cuisine during your stay.

JJ Hills Fresh Grill at the Icicle Resort

That night for dinner we dined at the restaurant inside the resort where we stayed. I liked the menu at JJ Hills Fresh Grill and it was super convenient eating at the hotel. I had a really fun drink with Blue Raspberry Vodka and Blue Curacao called a The Smurfette. It was a neat shade of blue and tasted good, too. To eat, I had their Traditional Swiss Fondue. It was served with a baked pretzel, local pear and apple slices, and Bavarian Brown Bread. My husband went lighter with soup and salad, while my boys chose macaroni and cheese from the kid's menu. Each meal from the kid's menu comes with either fries or chips and a cookie, which they loved. Then for dessert, we shared the Apple Strudel which came with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream!

                                                                  Bavarian Bistro and Bar

The next day for lunch we ate at the Bavarian Bistro and Bar. They have outdoor seating, but by that point we needed to actually cool off and get out of the sun. Crazy sounding for April, right? We ate upstairs, which looked out over Front St, the main street where all the shops and restaurants are. I chose an Old Fashioned to drink and the Brussel Spouts. They were really tender and flavorful. They came with a really creamy sauce, too. My sons had the Chicken Strips from the kid's menu and my husband ordered a Ruben Sandwich.

I hope you enjoyed reading about the three spots in Leavenworth we ate at. Maybe this will provide some inspo and ideas for you if you're visiting Leavenworth. Stay tuned for my dessert post where I'll share four places to get sweets in Leavenworth!
