One of the best things about travel is discovering tasty desserts. And Leavenworth has some great places for your sweet tooth! Since it's a Bavarian Village, they have Danish Bakeries and even a spot that sells gingerbread year around. Here are four dessert places my family and I visited!
Whistlepunk Ice Cream Co.
When I travel, I always enjoy getting some local ice cream. At Whistlepunk Ice Cream, they make all of their ice cream and waffle cones in house. The first thing you'll notice is how good the cones smell. And you may have a hard time deciding what ice cream flavor to get, because they all sound so good. I chose a scoop of the Chocolate Caramel Brownie on a waffle cone. The chocolate ice cream was really creamy and full of flavor. But my favorite part were the huge brownie chunks! Yum.
The Danish Bakery
I'd never been to an actual Danish Bakery before, so I was excited. I was blown away by how many choices of pastries there were. They have two large display cases filled to the brim with treats. There were many kinds of Danish and Strudel and it was hard to choose. But I went with a cherry and cream cheese Danish. We also selected a few of the Pralinas, which are shortbread cookies dipped in dark chocolate. They currently have indoor seating with several tables, so our family took a seat and relaxed with our goodies. The shortbread cookies were really soft and buttery. And the Danish was quickly devoured, too, since we shared.
Das Sweet Shoppe
If you have kids, you'll for sure want to visit
Das Sweet Shoppe, a local candy shop filled to the brim with sugary finds! I chose some
Chuao Chocolates to take home and eat later. They are a chocolate company based out of CA and they sell gourmet chocolate bars. I chose three mini bars with unique and delicious flavors. Das Sweet Shoppe also sells fudge and chocolates, lots of taffy, gummy candy, a whole wall of Pez candy, and much more. In the back they have ice cream, too!
The Gingerbread Factory
The last dessert place we tried was
The Gingerbread Factory. This is a must do when visiting Leavenworth. I can't believe I missed this spot on my last visit. They've been opened since 1988. When you walk in, it feels like Christmas. So you know some incredible desserts are around the corner! If you love gingerbread, then this is the place for you. And if it's not your thing, they sell a huge variety of other desserts. I was impressed by the displays of sweets. I chose a big gingerbread cookie in the shape of a heart, topped with a thick pink buttercream. I went outside and took a few bites. The gingerbread cookie was so soft and flavorful, and that pink frosting was really nice and sweet. If you're visiting Leavenworth and you love desserts, make this your first stop!
Thanks for reading about some of the desserts to eat in Leavenworth! I hope this post gives you a few ideas if you're visiting this fun Bavarian town in Washington.
